Madrigal Vocal Auditions

Do you have the voice? The auditions for Madrigal Vocal Cast for Madrigal Dinner continue today at the Cultural Arts Center from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Eight primary members of the cast will be chosen on this event: 4 men and 4 women. They will play the vital roles of the Duke and Duchess, Sir and Lady, Knight and Maiden, and Lord and Lady. Bass, Baritone, Alto, Alto Soprano, and either colorature soprano or soprano one will be needed.

Understanding Your Sinuses at Southeast Alabama Medical Center

The Southeast Alabama Medical Center is hosting a seminar on “Understanding Your Sinuses” today from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Speaker will be Dr. Kent Nunnally of ENTcare. He will give information to help you overcome sinus issues by better understanding them.

Wiregrass Talent Quest

The Cultural Arts Center (Dothan) will begin the quest for talent in the Wiregrass.

Contestants from across the area will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent in front of judges from all disciplines of the arts.

Preliminary live auditions (Cultural Arts Center-Dothan) will be held August 19-23, and from those contestants, 20 will be chosen to carry the torch to the final contest on September 13 at the Dothan Civic Center.

National Night Out by the Dothan Police Dept

There will  be appearances from McGruff the Crime Dog and Aqua Duck.

There will also be a  local car show, a rock climbing wall, archery, inflatable jumpers for children.
The event will include live entertainment fromPure and Simple, the Gospel Express, Apostle, the Friends Choir and the City of Dothan own (C.O.D.) band.

The event is free to all Wiregrass residents, and the Fraternal Order of the Police will have hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks for sale.

he Dothan Police Department along with several other area agencies will host National Night Out next week as part of a national effort of uniting communities across the country with area police departments.

Dothan Police Cpl. Rachel David said the event helps the people of the community learn more about theirlocal law enforcement.

“It is a way to bring communities together,” David said. “It’s a wonderful way for us to show people what we do.”

“I Serve the Hood” Summer Jam 2012 Food Drive

The Wiregrass Area Food Bank and Mailloechii Global will present the 6th annual “I Serve the Hood” Summer Jam 2012 at the Cottonwood Dragway.

The concert series will feature artists from the tri-state area in a showcase of talent.

The car-bike show will feature donks, trucks, bikes and a new category of car-truck-trailer sets that will all compete for the title of “King of the Dragway.”

Car-bike show winners will receive trophies, cash prizes, photo shoots with their cars and bragging rights until next year.

The BBQ Festival will take place around the perimeter of the dragway.

Each vendor will prepare their custom blend of barbecue with their own special recipes.

There is sure to be something to cater to every taste.

As a service to the community, Mailloechii Global is partnering with the Food Bank to raise as much food as possible to help feed the needy in the Wiregrass.

In exchange for non-perishable food donations, event attendees will receive a discounted admission.

The goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of food.

The 27th Annual Critter Run 5k

The Annual Critter Run 5k is happening this Saturday, July 28 at 6:00pm at the Westgate Park, 501 Recreation Road.

Course will be rolling and certified with aid stations, splits each mile and digital clock at finish. This year’s critter is the Giraffe!
